CARRY ON: THE SONGS of LAUREL CANYON (The Film)

This night went so well that Howard Bilerman wants to do it again – with some songs that, for a variety of reasons, didn’t make the final cut. The ace Montreal musicians, with very little prep time, sang and played their hearts out for two longstanding Los Angeles charities. So next time the money will make it into their pockets.

Much love and appreciation to all – especially Howard’s house band. As you’ll hear somebody yell out, the whole night was so very cool. Joni Mitchell to Warren Zevon was a wide net to cover. Among the highlights – gorgeous harmonies from beginning to end; the number of Joni Mitchell songs; Shane Murphy, Brad Barr, Mike O’Brien, Andrew Horton, Woody Woodley and Simon Nakonechny morphing into a first class The Doors tribute band; a scorching cover of “Go Your Own Way”; and a 10 year old drummer playing behind his mom & dad on stage for the first time during a Laurel Canyon anthem they had never previously played anywhere since the day they met on a beach in Israel. Actually the entire night is one long highlight – one that will hopefully lead you to search out the musicians own work.

Thanks always to James Correa – with help from Dave Hughes – for capturing it all for us. And apologies to Chris Velan who was bathed in darkness most of the night – he’s the dude with the great voice stage far right as you watch.

Enjoy.
