PRELUDE – Be Careful What You Wish For

I’m not sure exactly what this is.

It started as something to help with a life-changing incident. For many, the departure of Montreal’s baseball team in 2004 was merely sad. Many had long given up on them. But for a select few it was the other shoe falling. Those that were employed because Canada had two baseball teams suddenly were not.

There’s a reason the Expos were called Nos Amours. My family is the only thing I have loved as much I loved that baseball team. It’s been almost 15 years and I have learned to live without them. I learned to believe that they were gone forever.

I have since learned to hope again.

I stopped tearing up long ago (as long as I stay away from Annakin Slayd’s video). Now the Washington Nationals have had their Expos day. Put on that uni. I assumed that wound scarred over long ago. Apparently there are no sutures stitched tight enough to keep it from opening once more. Even just for a second.

I had looked into publishing this thing plenty of times. Never got around to it.
It’s about me as much as it is about the Expos. Maybe you’ll enjoy it.

For the biggest baseball fan ever.
